Incase you didnt see it in the national press, we were very kindly invited down by our Honorary President, Mr Rod Stewart to take on his Vagabond Bhoys side at his own private pitch.
An unfortunate result of 7-2 did genuinely flatter the home side but it served as a learning curve as to the standard we need to be at to beat them next time.
I think its safe to say that despite the scoreline, it was one of the best days we have ever experienced and fantastic for our club. The warm welcome and hospitality shown to us by Rod, Penny and everyone else was truly exceptional and made us feel at home – an Essex Blan’tir. The most sincere and genuine of thanks to Mr Stewart and his family again for the invite, his time and the dynamite hog roast and pints he laid on for us down the local!
We can’t wait for next time…what was the postcode for that pitch in LA again…?
